My coaching experience comes from working closely with people, often on a one to one basis. Getting to know what makes them tick, and what their motivations and blockers are by building rapport and positive relationships. I’m a trained interviewer and have interviewed hundreds people from a diverse range of backgrounds and job types up to board level. In Kazakhstan I once helped an ex Cosmonaut find a job!
In addition to my qualifications in Hypnotherapy & NLP I studied Coaching for Business Excellence at Sunderland University and have a Certificate in Life Coaching from Newcastle College and I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from Teesside University.
Before Hypnotherapy & Career Coaching my background includes working at a senior level in international recruitment, HR & project management. This was predominantly in the Energy Sector where I lived and worked in many countries. I have worked in small companies and in large multi-cultural corporate environments for organisations such as Shell.
I have screened thousands of CVs, often involving some degree of reformatting and rewriting to maximise appearance and effectiveness. I’ve worked for recruitment agencies and as a client, managing the services of recruitment agencies. I’ve also worked in search & selection or as some may know it – headhunting. I have design input experience of softwaeurore for recruitment applicant screening systems; so I understand the automated processes utilised to select candidates and CVs for review. I have also been involved in the design & content of job descriptions/person specifications and interview questions. This experience underpins and supports my knowledge of how things work through the whole recruitment life cycle from workforce planning through attraction, selection, interviewing, hiring, on-boarding, mentoring, coaching and succession planning through to exit interviews.
My extensive and broad ranging experience enables me to offer you:
- Executive level coaching to include CV review/re-write, interview coaching, interacting with recruitment companies, head hunters and prospective employers
- CV writing or modification
- LinkedIn/other profile writing
- Interview coaching which can include one to one role play
- Interview psychology & etiquette – what to say, what not to say, questions you should have ready prepared etc.
- Hypnotherapy and or Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) for test/interview anxiety as appropriate.
What is Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)?
NLP deals with the way we think, store and process our thoughts (Neuro), the language patterns we use (Linguistic) and our behaviours (Programming) and how these things interact to have a positive or negative effect on us as individuals.
It was first developed in the USA in the 1970s by studying and modelling therapists and psychotherapists known to excel in their field. Subsequently an extensive set of tools and techniques were devised that can be used to enable powerful, quick and long-lasting change in both individuals and organisations. Put simply NLP is basically looking at the process behind how and what we do. Its popularity has grown rapidly within the coaching and therapy fields and is often described as an instruction manual for your mind. By understanding how we create our experiences we can then enhance or change them to bring about positive changes as well as modelling others that already excel in the area we wish to change. It can be used as a stand alone technique or in conjunction with hypnotherapy. Unlike hypnotherapy it generally does not involve the use of trance although certain techniques can be used whilst a person is in a hypnotic trance.
